Hey everyone, I’m looking for some help and suggestions for options here. I live in Florida and typically carry my surfboards inside the Jeep. However, when the surf is good, but the weather is not, I would like to be able to keep the soft up on and still transport the boards on top of the Jeep.

Are there any good options for a rack that allows you to keep the soft top on without damaging the soft top by sandwiching boards on to it. I’ve seen options like the ones pictured, but they’re only for newer model jeeps. Your help is appreciated.

You could get the Barricade roof rack for YJ.

look at the new member yj raider wrangler rack, i think it just what you are looking for.

just touch base with a friend in jacksonville, floride, he stated that he took a piece of 1/2 inch plywood connect two rail and put on top, attached with bunage cord and it work just fine , he can take off when he wants. good luck

Any chance you would be willing to have him take a picture for you and send an example of what he’s talking about? I’m willing to look into DIY, but would like a little bit of guidance before I start doing anything crazy. I have enough Jeep projects as it is.

he doesnt have a computer. we use telephone when i can get him, he stated to cut the plywood to fit from roll bar to roll bar. decide on what width, then get a cheap set of adjustable ladder rack. he uses 2, other use 3, bolt to plywood, drill a couple holes or more to hook cord on side of plywood, and he hook on to rear bumper or what ever you have on front side to attach cord. he also stated that it made seem crude, but it works for him. good luck
