First time poster long time reader here. I have a 92 yj and it’s got some weird issues when starting. A couple of weeks ago it refused to start after a quick stop at the store, and I thought it was a battery issue since no lights came on and there was 0 action when I tried to start it. Had a friend come jump me and still nothing. As soon as i disconnected the jumper cables I decided to try it one more time and it fired right up. Fast forward to today and I went to start it and again no lights came on and wouldn’t even crank. Battery, starter, and alternator were removed and tested (came back good) so I reinstalled them and the dash lights came on but when I tried to start it I got a singular click from the starter, when I tried to start again there were no dash lights and nothing happened when attempting to crank. First thought was a grounding issue so took all the ground points off and cleaned them up really well and still the same result. I eventually found out that if I disconnect the battery between trying to crank it the dash lights come back on and I get that click from the starter. I’m at my whitts end. Any advice? Thanks!

New battery cables, connected correctly, it’s a stick and the battery is fully charged. I ended up making some progress late last night. On one of the wiring harnesses coming out of the steering column there was a random jumper with an in-line fuse which was blown. Accidentally pulled the other end of that from wherever it was attached and it’s been starting right up ever since. I can’t figure out where that wire ran to, but everything is in working order 🤷‍♂️
