When I turn the key on my 88 YJ Wrangler nothing happens. Something is broken inside the steering column. I have replaced both the ignition switch and the lock cylinder but the key just turns freely and doesn’t spring back. Is there some spring or actuator pin that could be broken? A mechanic said that I need a whole new steering column but is there some part that I can replace without buying an entire column? Please help!! Thank you!
