Here's one for you sound hounds!

I have a Jurassic Park Jeep and I have two small hidden car speakers for playing the score and sound effects and dialogue from JP93.

I want to add a hidden external passive sub or bass speaker to give it that extra and much needed low down 'grunt!' ROOOOOAAAAAARRRRR!
Scare the crap outta people at displays haha.

My speakers are fitted behind the rear spare wheel and tucked under the front right wing safe and sound and are waterproof.

Any suggestions where I might mount a 6inch bass speaker underneath the tub for that extra depth?

Yeah, I know, sounds mad, but it's great fun and kids love it at displays.

Thanks from the UK.

Might not be what your looking for but I have an amp mounted to the back side of a speaker box that holds 12” speakers. I barely fits between the back seat and tail gate!

Wow! That's bonkers! I have a little 8inch boxed sub with a built in amp kicking out an earth shattering ... 120watts RMS haha.
That things must make your roof flap!
That amp is huge!.

Thanks for sharing.
I'm thinking of mounting a 'hidden' bass speaker in the boxy bit up and behind above the rear wheel opposite side to where the fuel flap is.

But I don't know how to wire it up so that only deep/ infasonic bass from the head unit or the speaker level rear wires gets to it, so it just creates the low rumble. Maybe an in line high pass filter or maybe I need a dedicated sub amp. I don't want anything too big as it will drain my slave battery real quick.

I also have 6x9s inside storage boxes mounted over the wheel wells. I installed the Audio system in 1994 and it still rocks! Never had to figure out any “new” technology LOL

Hey interested in the storage boxes! Where did you buy them?

Oh my gosh that was over 30 years ago! It was probably thru the old J C Whitney catalog. I love them and the padded arm rest is an added comfy feature. The locks are cheesy tho and not very secure. I just keep a jacket and blanket inside. Maybe I should re-create the pattern and sell them on Etsy?!?

Thanks, I’ll look around and see if I can find them. Appreciate your quick response and advice.

I just finished the install of this new radio in the YJ. The old radio was an aftermarket Sony with a CD player and no Blue Tooth. It also was frustrating to operate; if you pushed on the volume button while trying to turn it, it changed to balance mode, then fade mode, then...you get the picture. Just turning it on was a challenge. I'm sounding like an old fart. :) Anyway, install was a bit of a pain but so far, I love this radio. It is pricey for what you get but it sounds good, and it was super easy to sync the phone. I'll let you know if something changes my opinion but for now, I'm a happy camper. I have a speaker pod that sits across the transmission tunnel but that will be next week's upgrade.
