Hey guys. I picked up my 87 YJ recently and I was wondering if any of you have a regular preventative maintenance schedule you follow. The jeep has 174k miles and is in great shape. I’m hoping I can stay ahead of issues by proactively maintaining my jeep. Any help would be appreciated. I’ve included a few pics of the new ride because I’m proud! lol

Every used rig I get:
Change Transmission oil, transfer case fluid and diff oil.
Grease all the fittings. change the fuel filter. Flush out and change antifreeze, install a new t-stat.

inspect and replace as necessary: belts, brakes, brake lines, hoses, battery cables, shocks etc.

open the distributor cap to have a look, pull the spark plugs and see how their burning, inspect all the plug wires. If any of this doesn't look good, replace it all with good quality tune-up parts.

...From there it usually escalates quickly.

BTW, That's a cool old Jeep!

Ditto what Stoopid said. Oil and filter every 5K or 12 mo unless its lots of short drives. Diffs,T case and trans every 50K unless you're using it for a submarine ;) Look like a well kept YJ, congrats!
