Refurbishing Alloy Rims

Has anyone attempted this? I have the 5-Star Jeep rims I would like to use, but it looks like the clear coat needs to be redone. I also need to sand scratches and nicks. I haven't seen any online that look any better than what I purchased. From what I see on how-to's online is that it is very invovled, but doable. Just wondering if anyone did it and was impressed with the results or could share tips.

With the exception of the clear coat which would have to come off we used to use a product called Truck Brite on the Alcoas on out Dump. Wonder how that would do for you? The aluminum would be almost white shiny,clean and brilliant looking.
