Rear bumper mount

I have the front bumper off (bolted on) and was about to remove the rear bumper when I found this mess. Looks like someone used the entire welding rod to attach it to the crossmember. This can't be how it was done. I can weld up some angle brackets if that's what's normally used.

Holy shit, talk about some previous owner rigging.

Those are piss poor welds too.

It's a damn good thing that bumper doesn't have recovery points on it. Imagine what would happen if you tried to recover the vehicle from that bumper 😲

It does have a 2" hitch reciever. Might support the tongue only. Lol

Most folks bolt the bumper to the rear crossmember utilizing the bolt holes that are on the crossmember.

I would cut that stuff off, clean it up with some sanding, and find a bolt on bumper.
