Hi everyone,
does anyone have any tips to keep Jeeps save while off-roading in sand? I am worried that sand will get sucked into the intake. I currently have a 2.5 engine with a bone stock intake (paper filter). Is this good enough for light to moderate off-roading in the dunes? Is there anything else I should be prepared to replace/fix? I have a friend who took their truck to the dunes and he immediately had to replace 2 wheel bearings and a timing chain soon after. if anyone has any tips or experience please let me know, thanks!

Formerly living in the county where Pismo dunes is, and spending lots of time in the so cal deserts here are a few ideas. #1 NEVER use a K&N filter on anything. No crank vents, barf bottles, intakes etc never, nada, did I say ever??. Make sure your air box clips are working right. I use a light film of white grease on the seal edges of most air filters if possible. make sure any open of loose breather vent, hose or otherwise is snug, on all the way and has no cracks. Ive had trucks parked for an overnighter buttoned up tight but when the wind kicks your still get sand on the dash and seats. Just part of life in the sand.
