I have a 89 Jeep YJ 2.5L that I think the voltage regulator is bad. There appears to bean after market voltage regulator on in now.

Need to replace but am confused because aftermarket only has two wires and OEM had three.

Do a test with a volt meter, the one on my dashboard was reading 19 volts but it's not correct put a volt meter on it a showed 13.4, so I'm not over chargeing so you maybe fine . The regular is probably only using a power and ground to make the alt you have work, if you need to replace it you could try to find a Chevy alt that will fit in and then you only need the power cable from the battery. Good luck trouble shooting it , if you have a harbor freight here get there red multimeter for 5buck and it will be something you will use over and over

at one time you had 3 salvage yard in you town, not sure if all still there. i used Tekswamp auto salvage . get the right parts that belongs on your wrangler and go from there. good luck and safe driving.
