Another Sunday query...
I had to replace my heater core as the original had a leak into the cab.
Pulled the heating / ventilation box put to do it.
Not a huge task and ended up totally refurbing the box and flaps and whatnot
Thing is, I can run the Jeep for miles but the heater never seems to 'truly' heat up. Sure the air gets warm out the vents or the screen vents but never 'hot'
The rad gets hot no problem, rubber pipes are all hot and dash dial sits just left of 12:00 so I'm assuming all is ok but it never gets so hot that I have to turn the heating down.
Any advice???

I cant recall clearly as its been a while since the YJ. I think its possible to get outside air from the cowl mixing and cooling the heated air. On my 91 I gave up on cable ops and just moved doors to where I needed them winter or summer kinda thing.

It feels like it's 'yeah whatever, here's some warmish air' but not firing up where the cab is so warm I turn it off.
I'm certain I did a top job on rebuilding the heating assembly and putting it all back together then back under the dash ( bulky bloody thing!!) But I'll double check the mechanisms and see if they are only half working etc. Could I get away with blocking off the cowl air intake on the hood or would that be ridiculous? Or completely not work at all? Good place to start though, thanks.

Hey Gila. Yup. It appears to have been a block after all
Good thought! I don't know. I'll have a look/ hunt around this afternoon. Nice one thanks.

So I investigated and found lots of air blocked in the hoses! I spent a good hour finessing it out of the rad cap and behold.i now have properly hot air flowing out the heater. FINALLY! Also seems to have made the Jeep run a bit better as it seems more freee-er and responsive
Thanks so much for the pointer!
