87 YJ engine swap to 350 sb

I have swapped to a 350 sb in my 87. It is currently married to a gm transmission which is very low geared. I want to put my AX15 behind the 350. The adapter plate which allows me to use my AX15 bell housing is about 2 inches thick. If i use this adapter it will pull the transmission shaft out of the pilot bearing. Is there a fix for this?

Both the AX or that GM trans have a 1 to 1 4th gear ratio. Swapping in the AX will give you OD, but you'll give up that compound low first in the GM trans and a literally indestructible trans, you sure you wanna do that??

Yes i don't rock crawl and use it mostlynfor fishing and hunting the od will give me a bit better gas mileage
