Looking for some advice; 92 YJ 4 cylinder, 241K miles. Getting ready to dig into this Jeep with my daughter. The dizzy gear stripped and was replaced by the PO, so I’m planning to drop the oil pan to make sure everything is clean and inspect the crank teeth. Is there anything I should replace while in there? Oil pump? Thanks.

Might as well toss in a new oil pump. I did the timing set on my 91 4 banger a while back. Obviously the T cover comes off, however to install a completely new T chain tensioner the pan would have to come off to get at the bolt or bolts. At 241k you might consider a timing set as well.

If I recall correctly you can replace the tensioner shoe ect and leave the OEM metal bracket in place if you didnt want to drop the pan to get at the bolts. Biggest issue would have been dropping something into the pan but since your removing it anyhow not to worry. Just buy quality parts is all I can suggest.
