Always wanted a jeep, just recently purchased my 1st, a 1990 base model, 2.5L 5 speed. 117k on the odo.
She runs and drives good but needs some TLC.
Just finished my 1st fix. The gauge cluster was not working. Of course with my luck it wasn't any of the usual suspects (fuse, grounding, circuit board, etc) but I did finally figure out that the actual fuse box itself was the issue. Fuse holder spot #10 (inst panel/lights) had no voltage. I didn't really want to try and replace the fuse box so I brought power from the radio fuse spot to a new acc fuse box (this gave me the "key on hot" I wanted) and spliced into the incoming gauge cluster wire and all the gauges now work.
Tachometer still doesn't work tho but since it looks like it gets power from the same source on the wiring diagram I'll have to run that wire down and splice into it as well.

Seems like adding the accessory fuse box and running and mods, additions, or fixes to there us the most logical way to go. Is there any issue with this I may be unaware of?
