1995 Sahara auto to manual swap

I have a CPS from a 91 manual 4.0 here but the plug is is different from that of the one in my auto jeep. I read the auto is too long but I was thinking I could just use a pair of washers to back it up slightly so it doesn't hit the flywheel.
