Looks like it's my turn in the barrel...1990 YJ, 4.2l no start condition. It turns over fine although the battery is down around 12ish (if in fact the next hash mark past 8 is considered 12...I've replaced the battery, the carburetor and the fuel filter. I'm getting fuel to the carb and good spark. I tried replacing the fuel pump while I was tearing into the fuel system due to it being the original unit, but Extreme Terrain sent one that had the armature frozen, so I put the original pump back on it, but no joy. I've got 47k original miles on it, and it's not all 'Nuttered' out. All original equipment is intact and you can practically eat off the engine. I've got the fuel, air and fire triad going, just not sure where to go from here. Is it possible my MCU or ICM are going out, or that the fuel pump is not delivering enough pressure?

Grounds look good... my cables are clean but have slight cracking at the lead near the bolt. I ordered a set of OEM cables from a Mopar warehouse, but the negative lead was configured differently than the original which has the main cable coming off of the battery and bolted to the block along with a #12 or #10 wire coming off the battery lead that's bolted to the firewall, so I didn't replace it...

What fuel pressure are you getting at the rail?

Not sure...it's a mechanical fuel pump going to a Carter BBD carb. My plan was to replace the fuel pump while I was replacing the carb and fuel filter, but the one I ordered had a frozen armature, so I put the original pump back on. There didn't appear to be anything wrong with it, just figured a little preventative maintenance was the way to go. I'll most likely order another one from Extreme Terrain and then go from there...I'll take up your notion that it could be the battery cables and replace those as well.

If you have fuel to the bowl it’s not a fuel problem keeping it from running. Fuel psi is not a problem for carbs as long as it makes there. But I’m sure you already know that .

Copy...that's a good point. Interestingly, I've got fuel at the pump outlet and at the carb, but I'm cranking the heck out of it and would have expected the card to be loaded with fuel. It doesn't smell like there's any fuel in it. I'm going to hit it with starter fluid this evening to see if it will run then go from there...

So, I shot it with starting fluid and it fired off. I ordered another fuel pump for the fix. The 35 year old original pump is still installed in it, I'm thinking it's wearing out. Thanks all for the advice thus far, I'll let you know how I make out...

So, I had a full tank of gas when the no-start happened. Turns out I had a vapor lock going on. I popped the fuel cap off and it started right up. I'm shooting for a new fuel cap and a vapor can filter...DOH!!! That's a lesson learned...
