I want to replace my entire PCV system before undertaking an engine rebuild. I have a few questions.
I have seen an crank case Breather filter that would eliminate the hose to the Breather element within the Air Cleaner. Does anyone have a part number for one of these filters?
Second, can I...
I have a 1988 that I bought to tinker with. Problem is time and space.
I am looking for a Jeep mechanic; someone that has lots of experience with these things. I am in Colorado and may just break down and take it in. I freaking love driving this thing and don’t want to waste the summer...
I failed emissions for high CO. I have changed plugs, cap, rotor and oil prior. I have changed the O2 sensor since. Next up I was thinking about timing. If timing is off, could that contribute? I am thinking so but just learning.
Thanks all,
Geoff
this sucker popped off today and made one heck of a mess. Has anyone been successful in buying the PCV grommet and the breather tube, at least the elbow, recently? I have found it in a few searches but they say out of stock.
So much for putting due in the oil to find a leak….. DOH!
I just changed the plugs in my 88 4.2 in anticipation of getting it smogged. This is what the plug looks like. I am thinking there shouldn’t be oil on the threads but not sure. Does this pic tell me anything or is this normal?
Hi folks. 1st post, I just signed up. I cannot wait to get digging. I am a brand new owner of a 1988 YJ 4.2L with 47000 miles. I pick her up tomorrow and will now spend the rest of this evening and morning (probably) piling through this forum.
Can’t Wait!
Geoff
