    YJ Heating System Explained

Here is a picture online I found from one of the forums. Maybe this will help. The black one has to go one one of those two outside ports I would think. Since its a vacuum it should be ok if you try it on either one. One of them should work

    Rewiring my YJ

Oh, almost forgot, I didn't replace the harness to the computer. When I took everything apart, that harness was still wrapped in tape and looked brand new since it was protected. So I just used the schematics and figured what went where to splice it in with the new harness.

    Rewiring my YJ

After looking over the harness as much as I could, I just thought it would be less work in the long run. Since it was over 30 years old, several mods from previous owners and the condition of most of the wiring insulation I did look at, it seemed better to replace and at least have a decent...

    YJ Heating System Explained

You might check to make sure the cables are connected from the heater to the controller. I had a couple that were frayed and broke which made the controls basically useless.

    90 YJ Rewire

I feel you brother. All I have left on mine is running the power wiring to the starter solenoid and figuring out those dang fusible links! I'm fairly confident it will be ok. The painless install book and labeling system makes it alot easier. I'm still going to keep a couple fire extinguishers...

    Wheres Temp Sending Unit

Must be a common issue. My tsu has one of the two wires coming out of the unit torn off.

    90 YJ Rewire

I've done the same with my 87 yj 2.5L. Mine has TBI and it was a bear to figure out. I can't say if it's better to go with changing to carb or not. My painless harness wasn't a direct fit so alot of schematic time spent for me sin e I'm not really an electrician lol. I also ended up using the...

Where do you purchase your YJ parts from?

I just bought a replacememt radiator from extreme terrain. It was discounted because it was an open box deal(rerurned item). I paid $80 instead of the new price of $189. Besides some minor scratches and one of the mounting brackets bent(easy fix) it was in great shape. Good deals are out there...

I've bought some used oem parts for my yj from dead jeep. So far, everything I've gotten from them has worked.

199 YJ 6 4.0 died (sometimes starts and sometimes doesn't)

I don't have a ton of electrical experience. Just some basic soldiering skills and common sense. I would definately suggest giving painless a look. All of thier wires are label number and color coded and with rhe installation instructions included it is almost as simple as putting a jigsaw...

199 YJ 6 4.0 died (sometimes starts and sometimes doesn't)

I bought a generic 25 circuit harness from painless performance. It came with everything for the entire vehicle. You can check on thier website, I think they do have different harnesses and setups. There are a few companies that sell the seperate harnesses, just have to do some searching...

199 YJ 6 4.0 died (sometimes starts and sometimes doesn't)

I've got an 87 2.5L 5 speed manual yj that had similar intermittent starting/running issues. After towing it back home two times in a row I decided to park it until I figured it out. Since it was mostly original and I bought it in 2020 the harnesses all looked like crap so I opted to get all new...
