Installing new bearings, seals, and axel shafts in Dana 35 rear end. After putting C clips on new axels, center pin is hitting end of left side axel. Anyone have or seen this problem before?

My trusty ol '94 YJ has been sitting for awhile, waiting for me to heal a foot injury, and when I started her up to move her out of storage, she is leaking gas from somewhere in the tank area...leaking seemed to stop when I shut engine off, I thought maybe hole in fuel line, and maybe only...
