    The Diesel Jeep Build

Black Friday sales caught me ordering the following: Fishbone YJ wrangler front & rear leaf spring hangers. They were almost 50% off and free shipping on Quadratec. Greasable HD front and rear shackles with poly bushings were 80% off blowout sale! M.O.R.E. anti-wrap bar with shackle, front...

    The Diesel Jeep Build

Ordered some more goodies for the Diesel project: Front roll bar floor plates kit. Torque arm for rear axle since I will be exceeding big block V8 torque output specs. front frame plates for stiffening the frame up front. Ford shock towers to install longer front shocks on more articulation...

Clearance issues after installation of ECGS Ford 8.8 rear end

It depends on how bad the interference is. On one we dropped the skid to refresh it mainly. The other, we bent it with a big pry bar I had on a Jeep run in the field. You'll have to check it. RR

Clearance issues after installation of ECGS Ford 8.8 rear end

Not real difficult to bend. The same guy had another YJ with a 9" rear axle that needed some massaging of the Tomken skid on that Jeep. We removed the skid plate and applied a little force to bend it in slightly on the front side, (side towards the axle facing front of vehicle) and it cleared...

    The Diesel Jeep Build

I know I keep promising pictures and they will be coming soon folks. Thanks to all who are following my build. If you have any questions about a Cummins diesel conversion in your YJ, feel free to ask me because I know CJ's, YJ's, TJ's and JK's very well having owned 12 Jeeps over the...

    The Diesel Jeep Build

This past weekend: Getting the engine crane back into working shape and preparing to get the driveline all mocked up so I can position it in the vehicle. The engine crane and stand have been sitting out on the side of the house so some maintenance was in order to make them functional and safe...

    The Diesel Jeep Build

More parts came in this week: Clutch parts including hydraulics and a replacement vacuum pump assembly for the bad one with bent pulley. Dog days of summer are here. RR

    The Diesel Jeep Build

Update: Will post pictures soon as I can edit. The Farmstrong CJ-7/8 motor mounts came in a week ago. They were back ordered for a few weeks but no big deal, I wasn't ready for them anyhow. The AA transfer case adapter is being installed in the transfer case to mount the D300 to the ZF s5-42...

    Stereo upgrade

Boat wake board tower cans with 6.5" 2-way marine grade speakers or 6x9" 2 or 3-way marine grades in them. Waterproof, firmly mounted behind the passengers in the back seats or off to the sides over the wheel wells depending on what roll bar you have in the YJ or CJ since they are virtually the...

    The Diesel Jeep Build

Looking at a pair of reclining seats to install while I repair and rebuild the factory buckets. Some local has a pair of reclining Jeep seats that he took out of his CJ a while back and they are better than a lawn chair strapped down! There is a hole and some foam has deteriorated on the...

    8.8 rear end swap

If you read my post on "The Diesel Jeep Build" I am re-doing my front axle again this time installing the full-size knuckles out treatment. That includes full-size 1/2 or 3/4-ton modine single piston calipers, full size F-150 rotors and all the components that go with that. On YJ wranglers...

    The Diesel Jeep Build

Started working on the front Dana 44 axle assembly this past couple of weeks. Pictures to follow when I get the chance. Originally back in around 2007 or 2008 when I first built the Dana 44 axle for my CJ I re-used the 5-bolt hubs, rotors, calipers, stub shafts, inner and outer knuckles off the...

    8.8 rear end swap

I didn't do anything but changed the master cylinder when the front axle was changed to a D44 with full size discs. Never pulled the O ring or anything, ran stock until the front axle swap, that's where I had to use the Econoline van master cylinder. If your front axle is stock, I just ran...

    The Diesel Jeep Build

All you need is for the fuel shutoff solenoid and that can be the old ignition wire to the spark coil from your old gasser. As far as the sensors, there really aren't any. The sensors can be adapted with fittings to run stock Jeep sensors on the diesel motor except of course a boost/manifold...

    The Diesel Jeep Build

A short update: Pilot bearing ordered and coming. Turns out the previously ordered one was the wrong part a few steps above. ✔️ Clutch parts some are ordered and on their way. The parts not ordered a few steps above. ✔️ Finally de-crated (put on stand) the engine after 5 years and beginning...

    The Diesel Jeep Build

Yes the OM617 is a battle axe of an engine with many having gone a half million miles or more in cars all around the globe. Mercedes OM engines aren't the most powerful but they are miserly in fuel consumption and can push a Jeep down the road alright especially when turbo charged. Lucky for...

California XJ Rock Sliders for sale in So CA

I know these aren't for YJ's but I have a pair of nice quality heavy gauge rock sliders to fit 1983-2001 XJ 2 & 4 door Cherokees. They screw attach to the pinch weld seam and underneath to the frame rail for super strong protection to the vulnerable unibody chassis. A must-have for any avid XJ...

    The Diesel Jeep Build

Well.... Slightly off topic but kind of related.... Got another diesel engine..... This time a 2-cylinder for a sailboat that runs and has the transmission attached. I have been cleaning it up to sell or install in a sailboat next to the Cummins so I hope to attach some pictures soon. Not only...

I will also have a D44 for the front of a Jeep Wrangler that can be adapted to a TJ, YJ, XJ, MJ or ZJ coming available soon also. It is driver side carrier and is stock 61" wide with manual hubs and a locker. These are leftovers from other projects in the past that I have to clear out the parts...
