What did you do to your YJ today / lately?

If you think a CJ5 was scary to drive, try a flat-fender with 1-1/2" wide springs and narrow axles! You just get used to it..

What are you all listening to?

I don't get the alt rock either, completely out of my scope of music. One of my favorite songs is "Let's Go" by the Routers. Gotta go back to 1962 for that one. Good stuff that had heart... Though Steppenwolf and Van Halen are close on their heels. Tull is great too.

Jeep sat in a garage for 3 years

258 is a great motor, usually only get pulled to do V8 swaps. My 2.5 sat for 10 years and runs great (when it runs), it's just everything else that had storage mortality.

    Traction bars? Remove or leave?

Can't say if removing them helps the ride, but mine are gone too., they just didn't fit after the lift. Stock rides like crap, though @machoheadgames is a big fan of Old Man Emu stuff. I think the track bars probably have more to do with side impact rollover protection than anything else. That...

Personal recommendations for a lame commuter car? Bonus points for a manual transmission

Me either! Though most of the vehicles I've owned have had auto's, I hate them, I just don't trust them. Auto-Magic, as I call them....Certainly not going to trust one with my life!

Personal recommendations for a lame commuter car? Bonus points for a manual transmission

The same here, brother, the same here! Manual is always a plus, no disrespect to our automatic brethren here though! Just personal preference.

Personal recommendations for a lame commuter car? Bonus points for a manual transmission

I would have a manual in my Merc if I could, there is just something about picking your own gears... A friend got a great deal on used Mercedes C-class that his brother couldn't sell in LA because it was a manual. Freaking Wimps!

    Leaky Jeepy

Sounds like the heater box, there is a drain for the cowl vent on the firewall, but that's no guarantee it won't leak. But it could be leaking from anywhere, It is a Jeep after all, I know the windshield to cowl seal on mine is shot, but just running a bikini it hardly matters. Mine is of the...

Personal recommendations for a lame commuter car? Bonus points for a manual transmission

Actually had an elderly neighbor tease me about the first Grand Marquis i bought, she said it was a "Grandpas' Car". But I just wanted comfortable, though I must admit the fuel economy surprised me (about 23mpg, closer to 30 on road trips). And comfortable it was, it certainly beat the shit out...

Personal recommendations for a lame commuter car? Bonus points for a manual transmission

It did, but that was 30+ years ago and I only gave $300 for it, then proceeded to put 150k miles on it. Different story today, was looking at used Yotas some years back and was blown away at the prices. $20k for a 10 year old pu with 170K? OMG! Just had a friend retire and bought a new Tacoma...

Personal recommendations for a lame commuter car? Bonus points for a manual transmission

I'm personally done with little shit-boxes, but the the best one I ever had was a Subaru 2wd DL hatchback. It was still getting 45mpg when I drove it to the junk yard, the car was just falling apart after 300k miles. It couldn't beat it's way out of a wet paper bag, but it was economical. No...

    Center Axle Disconnect Replacement Options

I've got a pair of seals that came with my block off plate, oddly enough they are for the CAD axle. Useless to me, if you're interested in them, PM me and I'll send them USPS, gratis. If you are replacing all the seals, I might also recommend adding tube seals. I'm doing them to keep sand and...
