    Cracked shackle bracket

And yet another question. Just noticed this today. Fresh because it wasn’t like this the other day. Question is, replace the whole bracket or just get it welded? She’s a hard ride and really takes a beating on our shitty upstate roads. And now my ZJ is off the road for, not sure how long, so the...

    Missing Grille Mount

I didn’t get to the yard yet because we got snow and I didn’t feel like slopping around in it. I decided I’d rather go new anyway. Another question though. Are these spacers norm or do I have to go bigger than stock for the grill mount to make up the difference?

    Missing Grille Mount

A ‘91 just came in to our local salvage yard so I’ll probably run up there first. See what else may be good on it I could use. Once it gets above 30 degrees that is. Junkyarding in a NY winter isn’t very pleasant.

    Missing Grille Mount

I’m not sure how to quote from the phone so... Flyer58, yeah, not much weight but I do feel and more so hear a major vibe difference. The front end rattle is more than obvious. SirDoopYJ, thanks for the heads up. Quadratic is my usual “go to”, I did find it on eBay. I’ve never bought from yet...

    Missing Grille Mount

Not sure if it could have vibrated loose or someone just felt they needed it more than me. Either way, I just went out and it’s gone. My question is, anything to worry about driving until I get a new one sent out?

    Missing fuel filter

What’s the opinion of whether or not I should put one back in? It’s just figuring out the best way to mount it without the plate that should be there. Obviously doable though. I was thinking of foam pipe insulation around it as a protectant. I’m still not finding any answers as to why it would...

    Missing fuel filter

I believe they still used metal tanks up until 1990. Then switched over. I know TJ’s and newer no longer use in line, everything is in the tank. So am I to assume with a modern made replacement pump you no longer need a filter? That’s something I’ve never read about anywhere.

    Missing fuel filter

I was just crawling around underneath checking things out and realized I have no fuel filter in line. I traced everything. Where it should be, over the tire, it just runs straight. ‘89 2.5. Is it possible they put one of the newer pita all in one fuel pumps with the strainer bags in? I didn’t...

    Two Time YJ Owner

Thanks everyone for the advice. 5.13 it is. Winter project when she’s off the road. Which here in NY isn’t too far away.

    Two Time YJ Owner

DMV appointment came and I got my plates. Been on the road a week. Finding all the little issues, blinker return spring, leaking dash when it rains, etc... all those weekend projects YJ’s never seem to have a lack of. Rides like a hay wagon but I’m used to that. Was never geared for the 33’s so...

    Rust Repair Approach

    Rust Repair Approach

Two more weeks until I can get plates on my new 1989 yj. Here in NY DMV is now by appointment only so.... while I’m waiting I thought I’d address the rust. It doesn’t seem to bad but I’ve never done it. Any advice on the best approach to take?

    Two Time YJ Owner

After running my ‘93 into the ground 6 years ago I’m back in the game with a 1989. Rattle can flat black over original red but minimal rust for the age. Frame looks very good. 2.5 seems to run fine. 4” Rough Country lift. 33 x 10.5’s a little squirrely for the lift so I need to upgrade to 12.5’s...
