What’s in your YJ new parts stockpile?

Quality parts availability seems to be getting a bit harder. I am starting to collect a few new parts for the years ahead to have on hand. In particular decent fuel pumps and distributors are getting rarer. What parts are you hoarding, if any?

    My thoughts on swaybars

Thanks. When I got my yj only the rear track bar was still on it. I have since removed it. I do not have a lift and noticed no issues on or off-road. Sounds like with the lift and removed sway bar things can get sketchy. Good to know.

Is this on the front or rear? Can’t remember what they are both called.

    Code 51

On the original issue try cleaning the fuel injectors. Also, if you have low pressure it could be the fuel pump. If you replace that be sure to clean out the gas tank. Overheating issue you just added needs more detail

What is your fuel pressure reading? How recently have you replaced the fuel filter?

    Help with my crooked YJ?

If your hood latches and can also later be unlatched, call it a win and move on. The fit of a yj hood is probably better than most teslas, but not as good more modern cars. Be sure to have the rubber grommets in place to align the hood properly.

    Diagnosing high pitched squeal/whistle

To find leaks I did the following with the engine off: put end of shop vacuum in tail pipe with blowing mode on, duct tape for tight seal, spray various points that can leak on manifold with soapy water, bubbles indicate a leak. Tighten anything that leaks. Have you tightened all manifold bolts...

    Leaks

What color is the fluid? Could be oil leak or diffs, if you are parking in a slightly different spot each time. Put some cardboard under your Jeep to find the location and report back.

First Jeep: 1994 YJ (looking for ideas)

Cool Jeep. I would do the fuel filter, basic tune up and all fluids, if condition is unknown.

    How is center cap attached?

Agreed. To each their own. My cutting pliers definitely cannot remove these indestructible plastic fasteners in less than a second and that is without loosening them up with pb blaster, torch, or grinder.

I had neither of these problems when getting a new tire after attaching the fasteners

    Failed CA Smog

a few bolts on the manifold were very loose, so I re-torqued all of them…also swapped out the o2 sensor for the heck of it. System is no longer leaking. We’ll see if it passes the free re-test in a few days

No missing bolts…I am going to do the manifold gasket, just a bit short on time and motivation right now. I love my YJ…California sucks
