    It's transition time again

OK, It's gonna snow then get wet and sloppy this weekend, so I wussied out and put the hard top on today. It was fun running around topless for a few days when it was dry & cold, but I'm not about cold wet seats. Hopefully the top comes back off soon. Although I'm happy to have the hard top...

    Door latch assembly questions

The 1/2 door latches are different than the full door latches. looks like you can get the latch assemblies and handles off ebay. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p4432023.m570.l1313&_nkw=yj+driver+door+latch&_sacat=0...

    It's transition time again

It's time to swap back to the hard top for a few weeks, so I scrubbed the soft top clean, dried it off and moved it into the storage unit. ...but its not snowing yet, so the jeep is tarped in the driveway. Gotta drive around topless for a few days before the winter lid gets installed. It's a...

    Steel or synthetic winch rope?

I run synthetic and don't miss the old wire rope at all. If you ever got poked by a dirty frayed old winch cable, you know exactly what I mean. The synthetic rope is lighter, safer, it doesn't poke through my gloves and is easily repaired on the trail. The steel cable is theoretically...

    Neutral Safety Switch

I have no useful information, but would like some info and a closer look at that mic hanger mounted to your dash.

YJ restoration project (air in fuel line?)

I got my gauge at Harbor Freight. one is probably as good as the next. Maybe you can rent one from Oreilleys/autozone, etc? There are a couple specialty lines to get For the tank vent: https://www.quadratec.com/products/51307_03.htm into the fuel filter...

YJ restoration project (air in fuel line?)

I would hook a fuel pressure up to the fuel rail and get a reading. The fuel pressure gauge will have the added benefit of a fuel-purge/air-bleed button to remove any air. Also, have you replaced the rubber lines on top of the gas tank and attached to the fuel filter? If the fuel pump assembly...

Gas fumes in cab after pulling up or in heavy traffic

when I dropped my tank to replace the fuel pump I was shocked by the condition of all the rubber lines on top of the tank. all three were cracked, brittle and ready to fail. None of them were leaking, but I'm not sure why. That is where I would look.

    New to Jeeps

Welcome! Thorough inspection; suspension, brakes, oil leaks, tires, belts, hoses, fan clutch. replace belts, hoses, air filter, etc. as needed. it's worth emphasizing. brakes are important. Replace the fuel filter, chances are you have no idea how long its been on there. Thermostat ...just...

    Questions for the AX5 gurus

I am pretty far from being a guru, but have done a little research. Apparently the 5th gear issue is usually caused by a failed snap ring. They make a "cure". I've never tried it, but here's a link...

Broken exhaust manifold stud, weld or drill

I would torch the bolt (carefully) until it turns red. I have found that rapid tap works very well for penetrating hot bolts, due to it's high smoke point. just keep dripping rapid tap on the hot bolt until it quits smoking and starts penetrating. you will know its working when the smoke stops...

Recommendations for an upgraded fuel pump

Have you already replaced ALL of the flexible fuel lines from the pump to the injectors and the filter?

    Dana 35 question

Just my opinion: It's a jeep not a track car. If you're going through the trouble and expense of a regear, just install the lowest gears possible and be done with it. Gear the thing like a tractor. 4.88s are good, 5.13s are better if you can get away with it. Add lockers and/or lsd and go...

Anyone Downsize Tires For Better Performance?

My jeep also has a 2.5L, I have a set of 33x12.50s and a set of 31x10.50s. Even with the 4.88 gears, there is a noticeable improvement in performance with the 31s. It is probably noteworthy that the 31s weigh 60lbs each, and the 33s weigh 100lbs each. The 33s look way better and do better off...

I horse traded for a set of upper sliders

So I was watching the Marketplace and these popped up for $500. I messaged the guy and told him if he got tired of looking at them, I would pay $300 any day. A few days later he asked if I would go to 400. I paid 350. They're in good shape, I don't think I stole them, but the price seemed...

Options for 1995 YJ frameless soft top

I have no experience with the Rampage frameless top, but I am 100% happy with my Rampage replacement top. It's been on for 2½ years and is still in great shape. That's saying a lot because I drive through thick brush regularly.

I thought the dash speakers sounded like crap

They were pretty rough, had holes and made all kinds of horrible sounds when it was over half volume. A quick trip to the stereo shop and some hand contortions, it sounds much better now. d
