    Took the old girl camping

That's a lot less expensive than trailers I'd been looking at. I'm about to be unemployed bc of O'Bidens' vax mandate, so I won't be spending much on mine for while. Back to sleeping on the bikini...

I cant find the right transmission pan

I've got Lube-Lockers on both axle covers, but both the covers and housings are machined cast, no brainer. The LL gasket is probably meant for a cast aluminum AM pan, if they still exist, if anyone ever even made them. Dunno. But T-Rex is correct the sheetmetal pan bolt holes need to beaten...

89 YJ 2.5 Fel Pro oil pan gasket

Fel-Pro Blue all the way! Used them many, many times and my experience is the same as T-Rex, never a leak (unless it was my fault).

Looking for suggestions to improve my 1989 YJ project

I used to have a Warn XD8000 I bought for the '43 after sinking it to the tub in quicksand, it was locked & wearing Boggers. It served me well what little i used it, mostly for others. There's an old saying "you buy a winch for everyone else" I've got a Champion on mine now, came with YJ. Never...

Looking for suggestions to improve my 1989 YJ project

One of the best "big" mods you can do first is a winch. I'm quoting someone on the forum, but I can't remember who. "A winch will get you un-stuck, the other stuff (heavy mods like lifts lockers, etc.) will get you more stuck." I just thought that was Great advice especially if your new and plan...

    1993 Paint Options

My mentor built a 2A on a M38A1 chassis, he liked the factory inverted front shackles.

    Soft top questions

Wish I could help you out, while I do have my top door halves, I only run a bikini and seldom even the half doors. There's a lot of folks from rainier/colder states than mine, someone here will have an answer.

I'm an OD guy myself, but that's just the old military buff in me.. ;)

    1993 Paint Options

I'm going to parrot what @ytradio said, it's a personal choice. That being said, the clear coat will eventually "sunburn" and peel off. I would lean toward a quality paint of your choice, satin or gloss and not bother with the clear coat. Personally, I like the idea of a satin finish.

    1993 Paint Options

I've seen other vehicles done with bed liner, like a Chevy van, and it looked like Chit. I don't get that...I mean Why? I did bed line my floor pan, but just because the factory paint was too slippery.

    Hard steering

You can tell if it has a body lift by looking at it from the rear for a "butt crack" between the body and rear cross member/bumper. If it does not have a body lift, there should about a 1/4" - 1/2" gap. If it does the gap will be a lot wider and you will be able to see a reinforcement for the...

    Fan Clutch And Cooling Issues

That being said, you seriously need to find out where that crap is coming from. Like I said, there seems to be a lot of it, looks like residue from a misfitted homemade gasket, IMHO. If you do pull the front of the engine apart, I would also recommend replacing the wp and the t-stat while you're...

    Hard steering

Does it have a body lift? The telescoping steering shaft is sometimes frozen when a body lift is installed. I experienced this with mine when I did my body lift. Knock the seal out of place, a bit of PB Blaster and then a knock with a hammer after it's had time to soak in.

    Fan Clutch And Cooling Issues

That's some weird looking gunk..Looks like a hairball a cat would yak-up, very strange. Maybe gasket material? But there's sure a lot of it. I think a complete flush is in order. Me, I would pull the radiator, pump, water neck and flush everything with a garden hose while it's open.

    What is it?

I've got a pointy eared Nit Wit myself. As far as the forum, if you read Chris' about, he doesn't bend to the BS, Very Nice, Good on Him and better for us! Wish I could tell you about parts, but I'm new to the YJ platform and most everything I've bought has been new. What I have found used, I...

    Cleaning up the ‘89

I have an old military re-pop mirror that I bolt up the same way when the doors are off, I just like the style. It will eventually be permanently mounted to the cowl so I can lose the mirrors off the doors. Not run the interstate without the doors, (but without mirrors) so I'm interested if this...

    Cleaning up the ‘89

Looks good! I really like that color, especially on the door panels! Mine were butchered and ended up replaced with diamond plate aluminum from Warrior Products. But they were spendy...Wish I could have gotten away with a $8.00 rattle can!

    What’s next?

Anytime you find marine grade stuff to work in a Jeep, it's a winner, IMHO.
