(SOLVED) Jeep died when coming to stop. Cranks, but won't restart.

Yeah, pretty much anytime I see somebody post these symptoms, this is the first thing to bring up. It's almost always the issue nowadays. I am glad I saw this problem before I installed my new sender/fuel pump so I was able to swap out that piece of cheap hose and save myself the headache of...

How many gallons of coolant to fill the cooling system and engine block from empty?

Yeah I was about 3 gallons when I filled mine after rebuild. That was with an empty block/head, new heater core and hoses and new reservoir so it was completely empty/dry.

89 YJ 4.2 auto to manual swap help

I swapped my auto for a new AX15 in my 95. I am still using the auto pcm in my Jeep and it runs without any problem. I picked up a manual pcm for it just in case but didn't need it. The wiring was pretty easy. For the reverse light, I just purchased a 2 pin weather pack connecter and spliced it...

(SOLVED) Jeep died when coming to stop. Cranks, but won't restart.

Yeah, that was kind of a bummer that I couldn't just purchase the plastic sections. So I have some brand new, extra lines laying in my garage now in case they are needed. My hard lines are in good shape but the rubber was in very bad shape and I just didn't want to risk burning it down after all...

Nice fix, comes in handy having a 3D printer and somebody who knows how to design the part you need lol.

Yeah, looks pretty similar to how mine was. Most of the foam was pretty dry rotted and some surface rust on parts. It had a ton of small leaves and debris in it and in the blower fan. I cleaned it all out and spruced it up. Then resealed it with RTV and over all, it all works pretty well. Since...

Looking good, nice way to get that heater box looking new again and fixing the bracket. Did you just back flush the heater core to clean it out? I was amazed how heavy my oem core was from all the rusty crud and sediment in it when I had my heater box out. I just wound up replacing it.

Keep at it, just a little at a time. You'll be driving it before you know it.

    HD tire hanger help

I have a Smittybuilt bumper/swing out tire carrier on my YJ. I knew that mounting a 33 would wreck the tailgate hinges. I was concerned with the tire being mounted up too high so I bought the adjustable version. That allowed me to adjust the mount so that the tire almost sits on the bumper...

I didn't realize it has been sitting for that long since you ran it last. Hopefully that is your issue and with it now being properly cleaned out and new coolant, it will run well so you can use the Jeep and build the other engine in your spare time.

Please recommend seals to stop hard top water leaks

I would avoid the Omix-Ada replacements for those corners. I tried them and while they fit into the hardtop pretty well they are thicker than the oem parts were. I saw other complaints regarding this issue as well. I was having a hell of a time getting the hard top to sit properly on the Jeep...

One half of speaker system not working

I would be thinking head unit. How do you have it wired? Did you wire in a oem style connector or just taped/butt connectors, etc. You could swap the left to right channel and see if the other side plays? Then you would know the channel is cooked. Or swap in another head unit if you have one...

Ugh, I know that feeling on purchasing an engine that is out of the vehicle and being told up and down it's a solid runner. We've talked so you know my story is similar. I go out of my way to be honest with people and it's, frustrating as hell. I hope the Jasper is in better running shape now...

My high school self would be impressed with my “new” ‘95 YJ!

Looks like it cleaned up nice. A great cruiser you got there for sure. Always loved that color, you don't see a lot of them around.

The green belts are a nice touch. I replaced my fronts with tan belts as thought they looked better than the factory black. I removed the back seat but I keep thinking about ordering new rear belts in case I just want to toss the back seat back in. Looking good.

    1995 Sahara project

I assume you mean cleaning when you say polish, no need to polish any of the ports, it's basically a farm tractor engine lol. Just clean them up as best as you can and make sure if you are not removing the head that you put something in the ports to stop debris from getting down into the...

    1995 Sahara project

Definitely. If you are planning to replace the gasket anyway, then why not check it all out. See how clean your intake is, it could just be oily or it could be really caked up with oil like mine was. The back of the TB was really nasty as well. If you are going to have it all off anyway, that is...

    1995 Sahara project

Another small project I have been wanting to do but kept forgetting about. I have had the hard bikini top (half hard top) on the Jeep since I put it back on the road back in April. I have four of the mounting bolts in the back on the tub holding it in place. The front has just been resting on...
