    I worked for Toyota during the advent of EFI....And we got a TON of ECU problems in because people were wiring into any power circuit they could find for lights, Amps etc. And the circuits they tapped into that were ECU sensor power/ground circuits and threw off the "Balance" of the circuit...

    If you do do liner....Remember to put bolts/screws into all the threaded holes before you spray...And razor around the joint before you unscrew them.......

    I'd just shoot it with a good rust preventer and then hit it hard with marine primer and then a few coats of good quality hard enamel to make it slick for easy pressure washing in the future.......

    What I'd do...Go to Golen Engines and get them to build you a Stroker...They build it and then send you a YouTube of YOUR engine being broke in and Dyno'd on their engine room stand....Then find a reputable shop to install it...After you take down all the stamped numbers to insure no shenanigans...

    I had this EXACT problem while I had the 2.5 in mine...Check your dome light fuse, Trust me...It took me three months to ferret this out... Mine is a '95 and my dome fuse also had the following circuits tied to it....Fuel Pump/ECU/Main Shut Down Relay...No shit. Changed it and she fired right...
