Old post, but people reviving this thread led me to comment. I think your tracing back to the PCM is incorrect. The alternator power cable is black and gray and switches to red in the harness. It comes out to a plug in connector on the right fender by the PDC. The other side of that connector remains an 8 Gauge and then somwhere between there and the power distribution center near the battery it splits into 2 10 Ga wires and goes to Fuses 2 and 6 in the PDC.
The only ties the alternator has to the PCM are the two operational wires: the field and the exciter wires.
The ground for the alternator is a short cable that ends at a bolt in the engine block by the engine mount bracket.
Ha, old post is now older. I'm installing the Big 7 kit and had a question about that C120 box and needed to verify where the new Alternator stud to engine block cable goes. Google gave a link to me asking the same questions years ago and getting the answers I need.
My OEM alternator ground cable came out of the C120 box and went up to a stud on the firewall on the passenger side. The Big 7 cable is much shorter and just long enough to reach the block stud that holds the dipstick bracket. I'm keeping both the original ground and the new Big 7 ground with both attached to keep from having another tie wrapped bundle.
I cleaned up the original red positive cables for the alternator by tie wrapping them near the PDC. They were covered inside the big loom that goes up to the PCM but only for a short distance and then back down to the PDC like you said.
I have all the cables installed and need to go once around and verify everything is tight. Straight forward installation. The only error I found was they reversed the labels on the Cylinder head and Firewall eyelets. Each is a different size but fit perfectly when turning the cable around.
