Rear taillight won't go off

This is a 95 Rio Grande total frame off restoration. We did decide to keep the paint even though there are blemishes....

I finally have my lights working except for brake and signal. I believe the signal issue is in the switch, but I have the passenger rear taillight that will not go off! Any ideas?

Have you looked at the brake switch up above the pedal? I had a switch that was starting to go bad and it was doing something similar. Flickering and sometimes keeping one or both lights lit. The plunger was getting sticky and wouldn't release quickly when the pedal was released. It's easy to test since you can just pull it and push the plunger and see how the lights react. Easy to replace if it is bad.

Do you have the third brake light installed? That one is the easy indicator to tell if your brake switch is wonky or not because it's a simple on and off with the brake light switch. Meaning that if you do have the third brake installed and it is NOT on (but works fine with the brake pedal being pressed), then your issue would either be the turn signal circuitry or the turn signal switch itself.

The tail lamp turn/brake modes are less obvious to diagnose initially because you have the cancellation circuits in the turn signal switch that can make current not pass through if the switch is flipped in a certain orientation.

If you just have the passenger turn/brake light stuck on no matter what (even when ignition is off), you might have a short somewhere up the line that is feeding that circuit constant power when it shouldn't be.

Really need to know more about the current conditions to troubleshoot/diagnose.

Thanks... brake switch is froze up, but that means my driver side taillight is not working 🤦🏻‍♂️
