If the trans go up 2.5" with the lift, why wouldn't you want to lower it 2.5"? Regardless that mine is 1.5".Just as a reference:
My jeep has a 2 1/2" lift
1/2" (homemade) T-case drop and 4° rear shims.
It's not perfect, but it is REALLY close.
1 1/2" T-case drop sure seems like a bunch for a 2.5 lift.
I find I am having to correct a lot of things done by the previous owner. That was my thought on the T case drop size. Plus there nuts welded together it looks like. Sure they will never crush but personally Id go with the bar type as Macho indicated. Based off your info you exactly where my 91 is regarding angles/degrees and Im smooth and vibeless. But... after 4 Cherokees with mild lifts each seem to have their own set of issues/vibes etc strangely enough.
The pinion yoke felt loose, so I pulled the joint and the pinion nut came off with a 3/8ths ratchet. Was never torqued. Ended up putting new Ring and pinion in. Other stuff with brakes not done right. All in the gameIf those spacers are the worst of it you are golden. Surely you have seen what some folks are of capable of when it comes to mods and repairs.
Just geometry. If the trans go up 2.5" with the lift, why wouldn't you want to lower it 2.5"? Regardless that mine is 1.5".
Easy enough to experiment with! Well, I had to change one of the shims around, because it was in backwards. Snapped two U bolts so have to wait for them to arrive. Then the skid plate bolt holes stripped out. Guess I will be cutting them out and welding new nuts back in.Just geometry.
I'll bet you a dollar to a dogecoin you will have less vibration I'd you cut that t-case drop in half (or more)
You probably meant to post this somewhere else….there used to be a kit from Mopar to upgrade the 4.2 to basically be the same engine as the 4.0. It included a new intake manifold. However that’s long been discontinued. You could do the Howell fuel injection kit which won’t give you a new fuel injected intake manifold, but it will upgrade the carb to an electronic throttle body setup that works pretty well.Hello to anyone who know if they make a fuel inject intake manifold for a 1988 jeep yj 4.2 and if so, where could one get one? Also, I would like to get two steel full doors.
