AX-5 Transmission - No 5th gear or Reverse

Is there any way to troubleshoot/ fix this by going in through the shifter vs dropping the transmission?

AX-5 Transmission - No 5th gear or Reverse

Hello everyone, I’m trying to revive my 1989 Jeep Wrangler with the 2.5L and AX-5 transmission. I’ve got it running, but I’m running into an issue with the transmission. It will not go into 5th gear or reverse. There’s no grinding, no popping out of gear—it simply won’t engage those two gears...

    Front Brake Pad Clips (Help!)

Unfortunately, that ship has sailed! Took both calipers apart before ordering replacements. Won't make that mistake again!

    Front Brake Pad Clips (Help!)

Bought new calipers for my 89 YJ and I’m at a loss for how these spring clips reinstall to the calipers. If anyone has any pictures or could walk me through getting these back in- I’d appreciate it!

    2.5 Throttle Body Injector Options

Hey guys, looking for some direction here. I’ve got an ’89 YJ 2.5L TBI and I’m chasing what seems like a bad injector. I replaced the O-rings thinking it was leaking, but it’s still flooding the motor pretty badly. RockAuto has a “return & rebuild” option for around $40—has anyone here...

Need Advice On Next Steps – 1989 YJ 2.5L Cranks But Won’t Start

Thanks! Definitely think I’m going to have to replace the injector. I also noticed leaking fuel at the intake manifold so I’m going to need to pull that and replace the gasket. Where did you get a replacement injector? Those seem hard to find and pretty pricey.

Need Advice On Next Steps – 1989 YJ 2.5L Cranks But Won’t Start

Latest update- CEL comes on and I can hear fuel pump kick on. If I hit it with starter fluid, It will turn over but only sometimes. I've verified spark at all four plugs. I imagine the ECU is operational because the CEL and fuel pump kick on?

Need Advice On Next Steps – 1989 YJ 2.5L Cranks But Won’t Start

It is delivering fuel. I removed the supply line at the throttle body and when we turned the key, fuel was coming out. I also noticed I do not have a check engine light. In fact, none of the dash lights come on when the key is turned on. I ordered new bulbs from Amazon, but it seems unlikely...

Need Advice On Next Steps – 1989 YJ 2.5L Cranks But Won’t Start

It’s new to me. I bought it about a month ago and from what I can tell it had been sitting for roughly 25 years before I got it. First thing I checked was that the engine would turn over, which it does. I went through the fuel system and replaced the fuel tank, fuel pump, and fuel filter. I can...

Need Advice On Next Steps – 1989 YJ 2.5L Cranks But Won’t Start

Looking for some guidance on how to proceed with a project Jeep Wrangler YJ. It’s a 2.5L 4-cylinder with about 107,000 miles. The first thing I checked was whether the engine would turn over, and it does crank normally. Next I went through the fuel system. I ended up replacing: Fuel tank Fuel...

    Ignition relay: Will this work?

I’m in the process of replacing key components in my Jeep that’s been sitting since 2001. I ordered a new ignition relay off Amazon and I noticed a slight difference in the number of terminals. Will it still work?

    Actuator Rod to Ignition Switch

when you say the ACC position, are you referring to when it is locked? And when it is in that position, how should the starter switch look where the rod goes?

Thank you so much! That makes sense! I appreciate the reply. When it comes to key position-any tricks on making sure the switch is in the correct position?
