Where can I get a rebuilt AX5 manual transmission for my 95 wrangler 2.5?

Why not swap it out for an AX-15? @NovakConversions sells brand new ones.

I don't know of anyone that offers AX5s as most people seem to upgrade to the AX-15 when the time comes. It's a better transmission all around.

I was under the impression that the motor being a 2
5 liter will not match up with a ax15. Would have to be a change to a 6 cylinder
If that is not correct I would definitely go with the ax15

Need to get my hands on a rebuilt ax5 for my 95 wrangler

I have a used on that's in a jeep I bought for engine. It had electrical fire in the dash a burned interior. I had already bought a reman out of Memphis myself or I would use it! Pm me if interested and I can give you their number.

It is doable for sure. Here is a list of parts for the method we recommend;
Customer needs to buy (locally, CarPart, eBay):

  • #52107566 Bellhousing, Dodge Dakota to Jeep AX15, 1996-2002 2.5L
  • 05-070 | K70081-02 381326 | 19182502 | K70081-02
    Kit, clutch, 9-1/8" OD x 1-1/8 x 10 spline, Dodge Dakota, I4 Kit, clutch, 9-1/8" OD x 1-1/8 x 10 spl
  • Driveshaft mods - usually 1-3/4" to 2" shorter in the back and that much longer in the front
  • May require mods to the floor and shift boot
  • Able to use your existing AX5 clutch release arm
Then we sell the #TR-AX15, #23SNLB or #23SWE input gear, then a #PB-8490357

Much better option than going back to the AX5. Let me know if you have any questions.
