I have a 93 YJ, 4.0, 5 speed. I was checking the voltage on the battery and noticed the lever than holds the top in place on the reservoir was not secured and you could see where fluid leaked out the sides. I have no idea how it happened. The fluid was low, approximately 1/2 to 3/4 " from being empty. I had just driven it roughly 20 miles or so and zero issues with braking. I added fluid to full. The brakes seem fine in the driveway. Is it safe to drive or would it need to be bled?

If your brakes feel the same and no mushy pedal then I be OK with not bleeding the brakes. Long as the piston intake holes are submerged all is good. But..If you were wheeling, getting off camber,up or down hills then I say you better bleed them. But...there that but again. Its not a bad idea to freshen up the fluid cause its likely its decades old. Brake fluid is hydroscopic which means it attracts water/moisture.

Thanks for the response. The piston intake holes were covered. I bought brand new brake fluid to fill back up to full. No wheeling or off camber since last year, just running weekend errands around town.
