All, my sons 89 YJ, 2.5L, is making a rattling noise. Can anyone help identify? I would appreciate any help.

We just changed the fuel filter and did a complete spark plug, distributor cap and rotor change.

I think it is coming from the warm air hose running up to the exhaust port. But not super sure

I couldent open the pic but you might wanna knock on the cat a few times when its cold and not running obviously. Jeeps seem to eat cats and when they do they often disintegrate internally and rattle. Not knowing an 89 there might be a flapper valve in the exhaust manifold that is closed when cold and opens when hot off a thermostatic spring. They wear and can rattle as well. Just a couple common rattles that come to mind.

Was it happening prior to the work you mentioned above?
