Well YJ fans, I wasn’t going to do an upgrade, however.....

I had convinced myself that driving around in my 1994 YJ with a 2.5l, 3.5 in lift was ok with me. Well what’s the old adage, ‘man plans, god laughs’. My engine exploded the other day. I mean I started her up and she rev up to 6000 rpm when I started her, then all of the sudden, we all this God awful metal grinding sound and a chain snapping, then the smell of oil e everywhere. The little 2.5 l had had it. So now I’m putting in a Chevy LS 350 V8. Ugh.

Wouldn't that mean replacing almost everything else in your drive train? The V8 will eat both the D30 and D35 differentials and the AX5 transmission for sure. Not sure about the NP231 transfer case. Not trying to throw cold water on your plans. A LS 350 V8 would be so fun. What all are you planing on swaping out with the motor?

I am replacing a 2.5/AX5/NP231 in my 92 YJ with a 4.8L/4L60e/NP241. I will deal with differentials at a later date. The 2.5 was just too underpowered
