Hi all.
I need to swap out my sway bar links and my word, how hard is it to get that top bolt out!!
I've got the metal pin out, but that nut is just not budging.
Anyone done this and any tips?
I've hit it with a 4lb lump hammer, squirt a tonne of penetrating fluid all over it, tried loosing the sway bar but zero.
It just won't budge. Is it part of the sway bar?
Is it weldwd in?
How do I pull it from the weird nipple side?

Ive recently been suffering from a brain illness and simply dont have the energy to carry on smacking it with a hammer. Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all
(Note to self, never buy an American car with no mechanical skills whatsoever, this is not a place for learners haha)

use a tie rod tool and it will come out easy. also i used a torch on rubber, it look like you will be replacing the rubber anyway. jp26, i know you have been in and out of hospital, hope your doing better. one thing that you can count on with a wrangler it will keep you on yours toes for repair and that should help you recover even quicker. good luck and keep us posted.

Hi Diesel, ive thrown the towel in and I'm having it towed to a mechanic to get it back to good health and swap out the links! . I'm just not fit enough at the moment haha. Shame as I've done everything else on it but hey, safety comes first. Doing better day by day and seeing specialists so hopefully not too long until I'm a danger to the public and back on the streets!! I'll keep you posted on the progress as it also failed its MOT on emissions and I'm at the limit of what I can do t
o fix the misfire and the back smoke. Time to call in a real mechanic. Cheers for the advice so far.

Revisiting this one as I need some more sway bar link advice please?
Can anyone tell me if these links are on back to front please?

I'm asking as I'm trying to workout where an annoying 'kronk' is coming from each time I drive of my curb on to the road. No noises at all when driving on the road but it's returns when I reverse up drive again.

Could the link bar be hitting, grinding, knocking against the shock mount, because to me there looks to be about 2mm clearance from the back of the link bar to the axle support.
Should the link bar be put back on but with the bowed side facing the front of the car?? Giving the axle more space?

Thanks all!

Hi Diesel, good to talk again. I triple checked the U bolts and they are all intact, probably a crappy photo! I'll check the transmission mounts as well as the skid plate? Someone also mentioned checking the body mount bolts as mine had a lIft fitted many years ago by a PO and I've never checked them.
Health is greatly improved thanks. It was a mini stroke ! I was only 58!
But I'm a lot more cautious on what I spray on the Jeep and wearing a mask haha.
I'll come back with my findings.

Just out of interest, can you tell me where you think the U bolt might be broken on my pics please?
Juat in case I'm totally missing something as they are so dirty.
Also, do you think the sway bar links are far too close to the metal joint behind them and may hit them when one side or the other of the Jeep goes up a kerb or over a brick for instance?
Will it affect the Jeep if it turn then around to give more clearance??
It's perfectly quiet when going over a bump evenly in both front wheels but only kronks / donks when one or the other wheel goes over a small bump?

i looked closer with mag.fine glass and i think the grease build-up may be what i seen as a crack? it looks like sway bar link is very close to axle mount? if it was hitting there would be a small mark or bright place where it hit. i never seen bar link turned around? hope your health keep improving.
