Sputtering / bogging or dying during acceleration

hey guys need a hand i have had 2 other people look at my jeep and we can't seem to figure it out and i figured maybe yall could give us a hand. I have an 88 4.2 with newly rebuilt trans. I've put a lot into it and it sounds great at idle will shift into drive and reverse no problems we timed it to +8 has full tune up including upgrade hei diz and motorcraft 2150 carb that I got for "the ebay guy" but for some reason when I put it into drive and accelerate it bogs heavy or stalls however if I double press the gas it "shits and gets" with no hesitation then once up to speed it will occasionally back fire or miss i cant really tell cause it happens very rarely. Any clue on what i should look at would be greatly appreciated and sorry for the long post

Pull the plugs? What do they look like?

also, what brand is the carb? Is it the correct size for the engine?
