I don’t know why, but since about 2019 I’ve seen tons and tons of people post photos of the split hose conundrum. My guess is that these stock pumps are pretty reliable and most don’t have trouble, and starting around 2019 is when people started really replacing them commonly. I’ve been following YJs for a long time and never heard of it until then.
Anyways, good you found the problem and can correct the other problems. If your fuel bowl is warped, consider fixing that with some folded over tie plate as well while you’re in there.
