I just had an engine rebuilt done on my 4.0 1995 and my oil pressure is pegging out at 80 plus.. When I took it in for the rebuild it was a steady 40 consistent and the oil was not the issue when I took it in for the rebuild any suggestions
I would double check the connection on the sending unit and the connector itself if you haven't already. It screws in right above the oil filter. There is also a test you can do to see if the sending unit is bad attached below.
Questionable happening directly after it was in the shop. Is it 80 as soon as started and stays there or does it actually drop a bit with low RPM and a warmed up engine? Was the sender replaced or is its possibly not connected or poorly connected? ( slip on type connector) Sounds like my 91's gauge which Im told is probably the gauge or a cluster ground issue. It has read correctly every now and again, but typically is pegged at 80.
