There is a cheap Cobra CB under my dash, it works just fine and is well tuned. However, you can not hear it, especially when driving. It has a pathetic little speaker pointing straight down. Today was cruising the thrift store and spotted a little Bose satellite speaker. Just what I needed.
I pulled the bottom plate off the CB, screwed the speaker to the plate and reattached the plate. Then I built a patch cable out of two different cables and plugged it into the external speaker port in the rear of the CB.
It comes through LOUD and clear now.
