Recently I’ve been having an issue with my 88 YJ 4.2 5spd where it makes an almost humming sound and gives a slight vibration when i accelerate above roughly 15 mph. i’m almost positive its the transfer case as it only makes the noise in 2wd. It drives perfectly fine in 4hi and lo. Any idea what this could be? Thanks.

Could be the transfercase. It could prob benefit from a rebuild. In which there are many videos on youtube that will walk you through the process of said rebuild.
It’s dangerous, but have you got it on jack stands or a lift and checked underneath while its in gear to verify the issue is coming from the transfer case?
