Here’s a thread showing my YJ project, Pile of Parts. A local gentleman passed away in the middle of building a slightly modified YJ, leaving behind quite the accumulation of Jeep stuff. Somehow I ended up with most of his collection.

It appears the chassis started out as an 87 4.2 Jeep. It has the AX 15 transmission with external slave and it came with a Weber lookalike carb, no cat, and lots of new parts and extra parts.

The rolling parts Jeep has the tub I’ll use. Unfortunately it was a 4 cylinder Jeep so even though it has most of the dash and wiring, it’s not going to be a simple plug and play. There are several Islander body parts too, so it’s possible the redone chassis could have been the Islander and he was going to body swap it.

I’m sure I’ll have lots of questions about mystery parts and wiring…

No windshield assembly or seats have been found yet but I’m still dragging out parts a trailer full at a time.

The one with headlights is going to be the one I rebuild. It is a 6 cylinder frame. The four cylinder parts Jeep on the right will be donating its body parts, sterling column, etc.

It is a decent tub but was hit on the drivers side and poorly repaired. Once it’s a runner and the bugs are worked out I may replace the wrinkled floor panel and quarter panel brace. For now it’s fully functional.

Still need a complete windshield and front seats. But I have three windshield washer tanks and overflow tanks😳. Also need the body halves of the half door latches. I’ve got another full day of parts searching in the former owners shop.. Who knows what goodies I will find.

More parts added to the pile…It’s got my door hardware, a good column, and if I decide to cut up the tub, a good drivers side panel. Someone was building a SOA SBC monster YJ. I almost have enough pieces to build a second YJ from scratch. Still no windshields even here in dry Texas they are nonexistent unless rotted!
