I found this plug unhooked and there are open bolt threads in the block. This is a 4.2 what does this hook too. Just got the yj out after sitting 10 years. Never idled right. It’ll start and run but have to keep the pedal down until it warms up

for the idle and running , i would start with a fuel system cleaning and a new set of spark plugs, Champion RC12lyc{ update number champion 412} good luck

Been a while since a carbed YJ/CJ. I cant recall if they use a electric choke or not. At any rate pop the air filter off and see if you have a heat element on the side hooked to the choke flap. If its 12v it will at least 1 wire off it for 12v power. Far as wires hanging out of 15 jeeps in my lifetime to date there always are unused holes, unhooked wires and the like due to different options or changes. In a nut shell the carbed 4.2's have always been problematic as far as running smooth especially off road. Thus the installs of Howell FI kits on mine. After 10 years of sitting, Id guess its time for a complete fuel system overhaul. We aint talkin mechanic in a can either like scamfoam or some snake oil stuff.
