Hello friends,
I wanted to share my problem to see if anyone could guide me or help me find a solution.
I have a 1992 Jeep YJ 4.0, and back in December, it suddenly shut off and wouldn’t start again for about a month. I took it to several electricians and mechanics, but no one could find the issue. Then, out of nowhere, it started working again.
During that time, I replaced sensors, the distributor cap, tested another ECU, and cleaned sensors. After that, everything was fine, but in the last few weeks, while driving, the RPMs would suddenly surge and then stabilize. However, when in neutral and shifting into first (or any gear) and trying to accelerate, the engine would choke.
If the engine stalled, it wouldn’t start again unless I disconnected the injectors, started it to burn off the excess fuel, then reconnected them—after that, it would start fine. But now, every time I start it, it immediately has this issue.
Any ideas? I would really appreciate any help from fellow enthusiasts.
