    Engine and transmission opinions

Great points and thanks for the shout out. One thing to note, the NP231J is rated higher than the AX15. We put them behind V8 power all the time without any issue. For heavily built V8's, extreme offroad builds, etc. it may not be a good option but for the majority of people using the Jeep in...

    Engine and transmission opinions

We offer rebuild kits, upgrade parts, rebuilt, and new transmissions for the AX15. Let us know how we can help. We have lots of technical support as well, just call or email with questions. On the engine side of things, we always recommend an LS swap ;)

Bell housing for AX-15 and 5.7 LS engine

We usually recommend the 3899621 bellhousing for that conversion. We offer them new and you should be able to find them pretty easily as they are one of the most common. You can also look into these ones, 6263756, 460486.

Swapping my 4.2 block for a 4.0 block

I appreciate the confidence but we don't actually get into the 4.2 or 4.0 much at all aside from maybe converting to a different transmission. I'm not much help on this one. Sorry guys. -Dustin

    Big Block in 89 YJ

Will it fit? Probably. It will be very, very tight. You'll likely run into clearance issues with your accessories (A/C components, power steering pump, alternator, etc.) steering components, exhaust, firewall, etc. The engine is longer, wider, and heavier compared to a SBC. Keep in mind that...

    4.2 FI vs. 4.0 H.O. - impressions?

Sounds like you have gotten a lot of information about the performance differences so I won't add to that. As far as the actual conversion, take a look at your bell housing. You'll need to see if you have the mounting provisions for the crank position sensor at about the 10 o'clock positions...
