I think the switches just go to ground. I replaced mine and they didn’t work until I mounted them. You might try bypassing the switch with a jumper wire to ground.

Do you have these clamps? I had the same issue many years ago on a Cherokee. The lift didn’t come with them and I didn’t know they needed them.

I’d go to Ace Hardware, pull out one of the remaining bolts while your in the parking lot, take it inside, scour the bins, hopefully you find the right size bolt, test fit them right then and there. If all is good, buy’em, install’em and be on your way.

I use four jack stands and crawling in and out from under the jeep is my exercise.

Grinds when it goes into 4Hi or 4Lo? Automatic or stick? To get into 4Lo with an automatic you need to be stopped and in neutral. You have to go through 4Hi to get to 4Lo.
