    Vacuum Lines Post Nutter Bypass

Hey guys, I just need a quick list of what to get rid of vacuum wise after the nutter bypass. The guy before us didnt get rid of much so we redid the wiring harness a couple weeks ago, and I’m gonna clean up the vacuum lines. What things do we not need anymore?

    Faulty Ignition System?

Got the Jeep running, I'd like to keep this thread open for a simple issue. When it started running the brakes were basically non-existant. We had done work on them and I'm almost positive that the issue is fluid related. I put new fluid into the brake master cylinder this morning and pumped the...

    Faulty Ignition System?

Exactly what we did. When we got the jeep it had the bypass done to it so a new carb was already on there and that piece of junk old one was somewhere in a junk yard. When we did the wiring rebuild everything it needed we kept and everything it didn't we threw out and to our surprise the...

    Faulty Ignition System?

After a lot of trial and error we figured out the connector we had replaced that connected the coil and distributor to the rest of the spark system was not getting contact which means the ignition coil was not making enough voltage to send off, meaning it made no spark. Part of the issue was the...

    Faulty Ignition System?

The coil was getting 4 volts which suggests that the wiring is bad. The previous owner did do work on this engine and he did the nutter bypass weird. He decided to duct tape exposed wires together which I'm sure caused the problem. One of the wires that was bad went to the alternator so now...

    Faulty Ignition System?

So just an update, we've decided to rebuild the wiring harness, we went ahead and replaced the starter solenoid, ignition coil, and the Jeep has a Nutter bypass done to it. If this doesn't fix the problem, I'm assuming the problem is the pickup coil in the distributor, or it is a relay. However...

    Faulty Ignition System?

Hey guys, a couple weeks ago my jeep went out with an electrical issue. It’s an ‘87 L6 Carb. I’ve replaced the ignition coil, ignition coil connector, and the ECM. The thing I’m seeing is when I turn the key, it cranks, but the tachometer doesn’t jump up and down like it’s supposed to. When it...

Jeep starts and idles for a minute, then sputters out

Final update- sorry I haven’t been very vocal on here, I’ve been doing a lot of research and after a lot of frustration I’ve found the issue and fixed it. Part of the reason it wasn’t pulling vacuum was because the idle mixture screws were adjusted all wonky and that’s why the engine ran super...

Jeep starts and idles for a minute, then sputters out

I need someone to confirm my suspicion. I think I have a bad PCV valve, which is causing my air/fuel mixture to get thrown off. I think it’s also causing my vacuum leak because the O-ring that holds the PCV valve in isnt holding it tight enough and I can pull the valve off with little to no...

Jeep starts and idles for a minute, then sputters out

Yes. From what I’ve been told it’s similar to the stock Carter carb except it doesn’t have a servomotor on it like the cj7 carbs (I previously thought it was stock until I realized the servomotor wasn’t there so I questioned my dad.)

Jeep starts and idles for a minute, then sputters out

Doing everything in my power to try and avoid having to rebuild carburetor. Me and my dad are using a vacuum gauge tomorrow to determine if there may be a vacuum leak like we have suspected and it would be nice if there is because it’s easy and cheap to fix just hard to find. If there isn’t a...

Jeep starts and idles for a minute, then sputters out

I’d like to reopen this thread. Jeep ran fine for about 5 days and this morning I cranked it and the issue arose again except this time I started noticing the carburetor flooded when I tried to keep it alive. Very frustrated because I thought I fixed the problem and it seems like it’s time to...

    Help! 95 wrangler 4.0 shakes/revs when idling

Check your air system. I had a similar problem with my jeep very recently where it wouldn’t get enough air and the revs would drop and it would start shaking. It could take a quick replacement of the air filter to cleaning your fuel injectors. Even call someone who can maybe give you a tune up...

What did you name your YJ and how did you decide on it?

Josh because it’s my dads name and he’s the one who rebuilt the engine.

Jeep starts and idles for a minute, then sputters out

tried this today, completely solved the probem. Cleaned the venturi, fired it up with no air filter to try and blow stuff out the floats, and it started running like a charm. looked like it ran rich at first but it was blowing gunk out of the exhaust after sitting for a few weeks. Works perfect now.
