The sway bar is currently held up with zip ties.

1. Why would someone not want them? More independent flex on each wheel?
2. How do I find a replacement?
a. I measured and it appears we need one that is 11 inches long
b. When trying to shop for them, the sites keep asking for the lift kit size.
c. How do I determine the size of the lift?
3. Is there anything wrong with just leaving it the way that it is for a daily driver?
a. My son will be using this for back and forth to school and some amateur hour trails on the weekends.

As always, thanks for your help.

This would be easy without the lift, but with it, determining exactly what you need and finding who makes it is more difficult for sure. Maybe someone makes adjustable links for the YJ? Not sure - mine is all stock.

You are correct as to why someone probably disconnected them. For articulation, you will get more with them disconnected. For street use, better to have them. For regular driving, you or your son would be fine - a little more lean/less stable in the corners, but you get used to it. But with an emergency avoidance situation, the Jeep will not handle as well as well as having them so if your ultimate goal is safety for your son and he's primarily on the street, get them hooked back up and make sure all the bushings are in good shape too.
