So I just picked up a 1994 YJ. Seller recently replaced rear DS and u joints. The u joint in the front of the rear DS has a housing just before the yoke. It has a single drip of what appears to be t fluid from it. The housing has recently been silicone sealed when DS was replaced. Why the drip?

The transfer case for 4x4 operation uses automatic transmission fluid (red) as a lubricant. It's common to have that rear seal leak and it may need to be changed. The driveshaft slides in and out inside the seal every time you hit a bump. The fluid level will be above the drive shaft seal level so if you slide out the shaft red fluid will gush out. That's why you need to drain the transfer case before pulling the shaft out.

The RTV sealant you see is probably from the factory because that's what they used when new.

The seals are cheap, easy to find and replace. Pry out the old and I used a short length of PVC pipe (2in dia?) for even pressure when tapping in the new seal. Lube the inside of the seal with petroleum jelly and make sure the drive shaft end is clean before installing the shaft. Refill with new ATF fluid.
