Gas Pedal Catch in 87 YJ

I’m noticing that my gas pedal has a catch in it when I accelerate. I can shift gears, accelerate a little, then have to push through what feels like a hard spot to continue on. Causes the jeep to rev pretty hard then I can back it off. Does it every time in every gear. Any idea what my issue may be?

Carbureted? I've had that issue with the carb linkage catching on the bottom of the air cleaner (Chevys not jeeps, but it's worth a look).
Go to the carb and move the linkage by hand, you should be able to pinpoint the issue.
If everything moves free at the carb, I would start looking at the throttle cable and pedal linkage.
