    Is it ok to start the engine without skid plate?

    I am installing new catalytic converter. This is my first time working on the exhaust system. I have removed the skid plate and supported transmission with two jack stands. My question is do I need to put the skid plate back on before I start the engine for checking exhaust leak?

    Recommend replacing Water pump bolts?

    I am in the middle of replacing Serpentine belt and water pump. I will Thermostat housing bolts because I can see rust on the bolts. Do you recommend replacing 4 water pump bolts? I don't see any damage or rust on the bolts though. By the way, these bolts are factory original, 1994.
